Memorial Day Ceremony

memorial-day

Monday, May 31 American Legion Posts 9 and 97 invite the public to a Memorial Day ceremony starting at 7:00 a.m. at the Florence Cemetery, which will last approximately one hour. This will include a rifle salute, the playing of Taps, Pledge of Allegiance, and singing of the National Anthem.

Both Posts will provide flags and encourage the public to place them on the final resting locations of local veterans. The cemetery is located south of town, west off Highway 79 on Salazar Street at 425 E Ruggles St, Florence, AZ 85132.

The number of attendees is not restricted; however, outside seating is limited. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs.

The purpose of the Memorial Day Ceremony is to honor all American Fallen Heroes for the price they paid in defending our freedom.

America owes its Fallen Heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom a debt of gratitude. Attending the ceremony is a way of showing that gratitude. Family members of Fallen Heroes are especially encouraged to attend the Memorial Day Ceremony in remembrance of their loved ones. Veterans are encouraged to attend in honor of their fellow service members. Veterans in attendance will be recognized collectively and thanked for their service.
